Operating Systems:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 3
- Microsoft Windows XP SP 2 or later
- Windows Vista Business or Ultimate Microsoft
- Windows Server 2003 or later (32 bit and 64 bit)
- Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (32 bit and 64 bit)
Displays:
- Super VGA 800 X 600 or higher-resolution monitor with 256 colors
- Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
Hardware Communication:
For Servers and Workstations that communicate with Pocket PC devices, they must allow installation of:
- Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center or Microsoft Activesync
- Must have USB port or WiFi for synchronization
Special Considerations:
- Bar|Scan® operates in 32 bit compatibility mode when using 64 bit Windows, both for Workstations and Servers.
- 64 bit Windows will not allow access to Bar|Scan® data by the Bar|Scan® Smart Client, many in-house programs and many third party programs. This is due to the fact that there are as of 07/2008 no 64 bit OLEDB drivers to access Bar|Scan® data, neither are there any 32 bit 'compatibility mode' OLEDB drivers. If you need to access Bar|Scan® data outside of using Bar|Scan®, do not use a 64 bit computer.
- Most Servers must also be used as a Bar|Scan® workstation, usually for technical support reasons.
Web-Enabled SmartClient recommended minimum system requirements:
SERVER: Supported Server Operating Systems:
- Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (32 bit only)
Must allow installation of:
- Microsoft Internet Information Services
- Microsoft .NET 3.0
Special considerations:
- 64 bit Windows is specifically not supported. Since there are neither any 64 bit nor any 32 bit 'compatibility mode' OLEDB drivers for 64 bit windows, 64 bit servers will not allow access to Bar|Scan® data by any program that requires use of OLEDB, including the Bar|Scan® Smart Client, in-house programs or third part programs.
- At this time, Windows Server 2008 is not yet supported.
CLIENT: Supported Workstation:
- Windows XP Service Pack 2
- Windows Vista Business or Ultimate
- Supported Browsers: Internet Explorer 7.0
